December 21: Into the woods.
We walked through the vast gardens around Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace yesterday as we attempted to find a subway station or bus stop or taxi stand or anything that would get us back to the hotel. Our feet were tired, our children were hungry, and our fingers were frozen. But every once in a while, something beautiful, like this twinkling roofline at dusk, renewed our Christmas cheer.
