November 27: The princess and the tree.
My daughter (dressed in her Snow White finery) waited patiently (with a little help from Polar Express) while I tied tiny gold strings on all of our gold ornaments. (Apparently, Romania doesn’t have ornament hooks.) Outside this shot, the boys are milling around dropping ornaments off the couch, rolling them off the coffee table, and shaking glitter everywhere. But here, in this frame, tree-decorating at our house looks calm and quiet and … serene. It embodies the peace of Christmas, even if only as illusion!

Yes, it’s amazing how calm things can look in a photo! I just took a couple photos to post on Facebook and had fun experimenting with various shot angles. It’s the videos that give away the noise factor!

The lovely soft glow adds to the serenity of this photo. The chaos always seems to lurk at the edges, doesn’t it?
