October 27: Having a ball.
There will be no trick-or-treating this year. Because, well, Romanians don’t celebrate Halloween. But we’ll be celebrating in our own way. On Saturday, the international women’s club I am part of will have a potluck (costumes required, appetizers optional). On Monday, an expat friend is hosting a Halloween party for a few American families (with a piñata! full of these bouncy balls! and lots of candy!). And next week, the kids’ international school will have a Halloween-inspired autumn festival. So, we might not see a jack-o-lantern this entire Halloween season, but there will be plenty of costume-wearing and candy-consuming. Two out of three isn’t bad, right?
