September 14: VIP.
We’ve got a VIP in our Romanian apartment. My dad. He flew over after we finally got back from Italy to take care of the kiddos while I recuperated. Since I can’t walk, let alone drive, cook, do laundry, change diapers, and physically separate wrestling children, he stepped in to do it all. And I mean all. Between him and my husband, the older kids get ready for school, toys get put away, floors get swept, meals get cooked, dishes get done, groceries get bought, and small teeth get brushed. Meanwhile, I get to do the “icing” of parenting, like sing lullabies and color with markers. And while it’s frustrating for me to be so utterly sidelined, it warms my heart to see my kids spending time with their pawpaw. He’s a VIP in their book, too.

    • Thanks, Judie! I’ve got another 4 to 8 weeks before I’m allowed to put any weight on my leg, but I’ve started physical therapy already to start re-strengthening the muscles around the break. Hopefully that will help me be off to the races (at least at a snail’s pace) when I’m finally given the okay to go for it. =>
