August 29: Pinocchio popularity.
Everywhere we went in Tuscany, we saw Pinocchio marionettes, both tiny and huge, for sale. We even dined at a restaurant that reserved one of its nightly tables (in the middle of tourist season!) for a life-size Pinocchio statue. We had spotty wi-fi and then had much bigger things to worry about, so I didn’t get a chance to solve the mystery until we were back in Romania. Why all the figurines? The author of the original tale is from the area and used his mother’s Tuscan village as his pen name. (Just call me a “nose-it-all”!)

  1. I love a mystery or a puzzle, it’s a good feeling when you eventually find the answer.:-)
