August 2: The fruits of our parental labor. After some trial and error and several trips to the Romanian version of Home Depot, we finally constructed some blackout curtains that appear (knock on plywood!) to have thwarted our early risers. With the sun not setting until nearly 10 p.m. and then coming up at 5:31 a.m. (and beaming brightly through our full-length, full-wall windows), Lollipop and Giggles have been sleep-deprived since we got here. And cranky. And that means we’ve been cranky, too. But now, with some cardboard, wallpaper, duct tape, a sheet, some wood, a couple of screwdrivers, some stick-on clippy things, and the flimsiest hack saw in the country, we have blocked out the light. And then there was sleep!

  1. I just found your blog, and it is wonderful! Looking forward to watching the adventure unfold. šŸ™‚

  2. Stick-on clippy things – I think that is something that every tool drawer needs along with duct tape!
I am so happy you are getting sleep. There is almost nothing worse than cranky kids!

  3. Full length, full wall windows sound great, but I guess they have their downside šŸ™‚
