June 15: 9 to 5.
The goodbye party at Daddy’s work was not nearly as interesting (despite the beer cans with the bear on them!) as the water cooler, ping-pong balls, and strange glass doors that wouldn’t open without a badge-swipe.

June 14: Swingers.
A Romanian-Hungarian friend invited us over to her house to say goodbye today. Even though we had very few words in common, some things were easy to understand, despite our language differences: her puppy, two pet bunnies, fresh cucumbers, sliced bread, strawberry cake, shade from a cherry tree, and porch swings in the afternoon sunshine.

June 12: Cat calls.
Lollipop had her end-of-year show at preschool today. She and her 17 classmates dressed up like cats, recited poems, sang songs, and danced a blue streak to classics like “Rhythm Nation” and “So Long, Farewell.” And then they got diplomas and graduation caps to officially commemorate the end of preschool and the beginning of elementary school. Luckily, I was too busy fiddling with the camera settings to get teary-eyed.

June 11: Happy feet.
Giggles and his preschool colleagues had their end-of-year show today. Imagine 12 four-year-olds dressed like penguins … and the reality was a thousand times cuter than that!

June 6: Flags of our children.
Once we’re gone, I will really miss walking into the preschool and seeing all the flags that represent the nationalities of the children. Soon, it won’t be such a rarity to see the Red, White, and Blue. Also? I think I’ll miss the Red, Yellow, and Blue.

A lice outbreak at preschool means extra television while hair marinates for 45 minutes in preventative shampoo … and the extra television part is the only perk, as Lollipop will surely tell you!
